Denim is known for its durability, but what happens when said article of clothing meets the end of its shelf life? A tear on a pair of jeans gives a “lived-in” effect that’s highly sought after; perfect to be upcycled, giving the materials a brand-new look and purpose.
InterContinental Kuala Lumpur is welcoming denim donations in collaboration with Suri Inspirasi - a social enterprise that strive to empower single and underprivileged mothers. This partnership is a representation of what our brand believes in - erasing the mindset of charitable offering for all participating mothers, but instead providing them with an income-based plan through employment support programme. And not to forget, preserving the environment.
This project will provide our guests and the community with the resources to make a positive change. By understanding and prioritising our social and environmental impacts, we will create a stronger brand that will continue to be a leader in shaping the hospitality industry.
You may drop your old denim clothing at the collection box placed at our lobby. The donated denim will provide more materials for SURI to work on, and improve financial opportunities for underprivileged mothers in need while keeping textile waste out of landfills.
